Virtual Teen Fellowship (CCCYG) All teens are invited to a new group for fellowship, study, and activities on three Friday nights a month. First meeting will be June 11, 2021. More details will be coming. Scholarship Opportunity: The Chinatown Service Center announces a new scholarship program for those who attend or plan to attend a two (2)-year community college or four (4)-year college or university, beginning no later than the fall of 2021. The scholarships are nomination-based from invited organizations, including from CCC. Nominations from CCC will be handled through the Membership Committee. Interested persons may request an application from the Chinatown Service Center (202-898-0061 or csc.coordinator@cccdc.com). The applications are due to the Membership Committee no later than June 1, 2021, delivered to the Chinatown Service Center via email (board.chair@cccdc.com), personal delivery (500 I (Eye Street) NW, Washington, DC 20001), or FAX (202-637-7857).
To be eligible, there must also be a demonstrated connection with Chinatown. This may be shown by living in, going to school, community service, community activities, and/or being employed in Chinatown. Such connection may be past or present. The award criteria include: (1) Academic Performance and Promises; (2) Community Service; (3) Participation in Community Activities; and (4) Financial Need.
Summer Retreat 2021 [E] will not be held in-person at Messiah College this year due to pandemic restrictions. Alternate program is being planned.
Successful Vaccine Event In collaboration with the Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs, Howard University Hospital Clinic and the Wah Luck Adult Day Center, 145 individuals received their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine this past week at the church.

COVID-19 Funeral Assistance The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be assisting with funeral expenses paid for someone who died from COVID-19. The program started on April 12, 2021. Application information will only be taken over the phone at FEMA’s dedicated call center, 844-684-6333. It is open 9 am – 9 pm Monday – Friday. Beware of scammers reaching out and offering to help you with this process. COVID-19 Vaccinations are widely available. Contact your state or the district’s government website or your local health department for more information. All individuals 12 and older are eligible for a shot, and many locations have walk-up availability. Fully vaccinated individuals have new guidelines for moving about without a mask. Precautionary Measures Due to Coronavirus
- Be cautious when going out – wearing a face covering in DC anytime you are away from home is still recommended, but not required for those who are fully vaccinated. There are changing restrictions in place for shopping, dining, and traveling, especially if you are vaccinated. Be cautious in large gatherings. Stay home if you are sick.
- Details of activity information changes are announced through the website, phone tree, social media, WTOP and WJLA. If you want to be on the email list, please make sure we have your current email by contacting linda@cccdc.com
- It is suggested that those returning from overseas or long distance travel or been in a large group should stay at home for two weeks to minimize spreading contagions.
- Follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for protecting yourself – wear a mask, wash hands frequently with soap and water, cover coughs and sneezes, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, stay home if you feel ill.
- Consult a doctor if you have a high fever, cough or breathing problems.
- Be aware of anti-Asian/Chinese sentiments from those who have anger or fear related to the virus’ origins. Call 911 if you feel threatened.
- Trust God in this and all situations acting as Jesus would to check on people who may need assistance, not giving into fear, verifying information before passing it on, praying often for His protection and trusting Him for the outcome. Our response in any situation is a testimony of our faith.

新型冠狀病毒預防措施
- 謹慎外出——在特區離家外出,包括在戶外仍然建議戴口罩,但已經注射了兩針新冠疫苗的人群在室外不要求戴口罩。現在在餐飲、購物和旅行時對人群的聚集規則有變化,如果您是注射了兩針疫苗的人群,要注意聚會規則的改變。要保持謹慎的態度參加大型集會。如果生病了,請留在家中。
