Advent Week 1 – Hope

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” – Romans 15:13

1. Hope Comes from God
   1. Hope – A feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen
   2. Who or What you put hope in, is more important having hope itself
   3. God is the author of true hope
   4. Romans 5:8 – But God shows His love for us in that while we were till sinners, Christ died for us.
2. Hope Builds our Faith
   1. Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
   2. Faith < – > Hope
3. Hope Helps us Endure
   1. 1 Thessalonians 1:3 – Remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
   2. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 – But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
