Congratulations, Pastor Joanna! After attending a mission conference in 2009 and another in 2010 with other CCC believers, Pastor Joanna felt God calling her to full-time ministry.  In 2011 she relinquished her career and other life goals to start a 3-year course in biblical study at Canaan Bible College.  Upon completion God provided the opportunity for Joanna to begin her ministry at CCC.  Serving as a pastoral intern with the Mandarin congregation began in September 2014 and quickly led to her becoming an Assistant Pastor and then commissioned Minister of the Gospel in 2016.  She was recognized as a full pastor in December 2018 having demonstrated the gifts required to lead her congregation in preaching, teaching, discipling, and caring.  Each step she takes has been in surrender to and guidance from the Lord.

We are pleased to welcome the Ordination Committee of Rev. David Chiew and Rev. Dorcas Cheng of the Fellowship Deaconry Association of British Columbia which works closely with Joanna’s Bible College, and Elder Peter Zheng, who has been a mentor for Pastor Joanna while she was a student in Bible College and as a coworker in the SRM Restaurant Ministry. They will conduct the ordination ceremony.  We also welcome several past Official Board Chairs to witness this joyous occasion for which we praise and thank God as He works in the life of the Chinese Community Church.

Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs Community Festival on June 3, 2023  Besides usual informative displays, activities, and entertainment, it is hoped the DC Humanities truck will loop the Flashback DC Chinatown Short Films (oral histories) in front of the church. Chinatown Service Center will have an information table and sponsor Eric’s bike clinic.

Chinatown Service Center Co-Sponsors Asian Hate Forum with the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the Hung Memorial Hall.  Local and federal law enforcement, district attorneys, civil rights organizations, and community organizations will discuss and share information on methods to combat and respond to bias incidents and hate crimes. Parking at PMI Parking lots on Sundays:  900 New York Avenue – Free parking with validation stamp.  Enter on 9th Street. PMI Garage at 600 Mass Ave – church paid arrangement for those who need to have a closer option for parking.  For either lot, please make sure you pick up a validation stamp or follow-up ticket at the front door from security or greeters. Send your request through the homepage of the church website. http://tinyurl.com/CCC-Prayers  or join the Monthly Church-wide Prayer Meeting.  We invite you to join together as a church family for prayer in our next meeting on June 5, 2023 (usually the first Monday of the month) from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Participants may pray in any language, offering only words meant for God.  There should be no explanation or self-introduction.  You may pray following the direction of the pastors or for items on your mind at the time. Offerings and Donations are being received during worship services.  Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. Give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. 2 Corinthians 8:12 NLT. You may also send checks in the mail, add CCC to your Bill Pay service from your bank, or send offering through Pay Pal. Make payable to Chinese Community Church, 500 I Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.  If giving through Pay Pal, avoid fees by designating Friends and Family from your account, not a credit card or using the Pay Pal Giving Fund.  Beginning in 2023 recording of PayPal donations will reflect actual amount church receives (so fees will be deducted if incurred)

Next Legal Clinic, sponsored by Chinatown Service Center and Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center, will be held 8 June 2023 at 12:00 noon. Translators are provided.  You must reserve a spot with Michelle, 202-898-0061 in order to attend.  She will provide meeting details when you call.

恭喜徐麗娟牧師！在2009和2010年與其他CCC信徒一起參加了兩個宣教大會後，徐麗娟牧師感到神呼召她全職事奉。2011年，她放棄了自己的職業和其他生活目標，開始在迦南聖經學院為期3年的聖經研究課程。完成後，上帝為徐麗娟牧師安排了在CCC開始她事工的機會。2014年9月開始在國語堂擔任牧師實習，並迅速成為助牧，然後在2016年被任命為福音傳道人。在展示了對會眾帶領，於講道、教導、門訓和關懷方面所需的恩賜後，2018年12月她被公認為正式牧師。她邁出的每一步都是依靠順服主，接受主的引導。

我們很高興地歡迎按立委員會中，與徐麗娟牧師聖經學院密切合作之Fellowship Deaconry Association of British Columbia的David Chiew牧師和Dorcas Cheng牧師，以及徐麗娟牧師在聖經學院期間擔任她的導師和在SRM餐館事工的同工Peter Zheng長老。他們將主持按立儀式。我們也歡迎幾位前任董事會主席見證這個歡樂的時刻，我們讚美和感謝耶和華在美京中華基督教會中的工作。
