Prayers: August 29, 2021
Prayers
Pray in thanksgiving for God’s presence in our lives:
- Thank you, Lord, for calming my heart in the chaos of the day.
- Thank you, Lord, that even though the sunsets are coming earlier and daylight is shorter, they seem more beautiful than ever.
- Thank you, Lord, that You provide all I need to be satisfied.
- Thank you, Lord, for lessons learned from my parents.
- Thank you, Lord, for the bounty from summer gardens.
Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ:
- For those who are shut-in their homes or nursing facilities
- For church families experiencing loss of loved ones
- For our children returning to school amid coronavirus issues and dissension about policies
- For those in the middle of devastating fires, heat, and tropical storms
- For those who live in fear and uncertainty about tomorrow; help them to take the first positive step forward
- To be able to turn over feelings of inner turmoil and negativity to God
- That we may share a word of encouragement with someone we haven’t talked to in awhile
- That God will have mercy on us and lead us to overcome COVID-19
- For those whose work situation is not what we’d like it to be
Pray for CCC:
- That we may learn lessons from King Nebuchadnezzar about God’s wisdom, loyalty and power which lead us to true faithfulness, Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble. Daniel 4:37
- To continue the joy of worshiping the Lord in His sanctuary in safety at I Street church and in unity with our online brothers and sisters
- For the Sunday School for both CCC and Grace DC expanding its in-person classes
- That we make sacrifices and submit our will to the authority of Jesus, not any other person, including ourselves
- That God will watch over our coming and going wherever we may be. Psalm 121:7-8
- That we will not use the pandemic to be complacent in our ministry. We have learned to do many things safely and differently in the last year-and-a-half.
- That although God plans a season for many things in our lives (Ecclesiastes 3), He does not mean for us to be stuck in any one of them. Pray that we open ourselves up for God to make everything beautiful in His time.
- For God to raise up those who have faith to serve together in ministry during the pandemic.
To Think About: What’s needed most if we are to be disciples of Christ? Life-Changing Fellowship. We must keep our spiritual fire going or we become ashes. Even if we become burnt out, if we are close to other on-fire believers, our fire will not die out but be sparked by others around us. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:42 To become mature disciples, we must work at building up relationships, set aside time to talk with one another, not seek to be entertained alone with our technological devices.
